Is It Safe For My Child To Visit The Dentist During COVID-19? Yes – See Why!

At Cascadia Kids Dentistry, we’re taking your safety very seriously during the COVID-19 pandemic. If you have been concerned about the risk of COVID-19 at the dentist, don’t worry. It’s completely safe for your child to see the dentist at Cascadia Kids Dentistry.

Why can you come to our office and get the care your child needs with confidence? Learn more about our safety precautions below, and see what we’re doing to ensure a safe, comfortable visit at our office.

1. In-Car Check-Ins For All Patients

The biggest change you’ll notice in our office is that we’re checking patients in at their cars, rather than having you come into our waiting room. This helps you stay comfortable and maintain distance between patients, which we know can otherwise be difficult with young kids!

When you come to our office for an appointment, just give us a call and a concierge will come to your car. You and your family will get quick temperature checks, and you’ll be asked to fill out some paperwork related to COVID-19.

Once it’s time for your little one’s appointment, you’ll bring them into our office. Masks are required at all times for kids and adults until you reach the operatory.

2. Appointment Scheduling Changes At Our Office

We have made some changes in how we’re scheduling patients in an effort to reduce the number of people in our office at any given time, and to allow us more time to thoroughly clean each operating room between every child we treat.

This may change appointment availability, so thank you for being patient and bearing with us during this time. We’ll do our best to see your little ones as soon as we can!

3. Increased PPE Usage

Our front-office team is now wearing PPE like masks and eye protection at all times, and our dentists and dental team members are wearing a bit more PPE, too. You may notice head coverings, shoe coverings, gowns or “jackets,” and custom face shields. These are all for your protection, and help reduce the risk of spreading infectious diseases like COVID-19.

4. Enhanced Cleaning Of Operatories & Common Areas

We have always followed guidelines from local, state, and federal agencies like OSHA to ensure we properly disinfect and sanitized operating areas, dental tools, and surfaces between each patient. We’re continuing to do so, and have taken further steps to make sure your child has a safe, comfortable experience at our office.

We are also wiping down common areas and frequently-touched surfaces like counters, tables and chairs, doorknobs, bathrooms, and other such surfaces that could transmit COVID-19 or other infectious diseases.
